Positive Affirmations 2018

Every Thought You Think Creates Your Future;
What you Think about Yourself becomes the Truth.

If you believe the phrase you are what you think, then life truly stems from your thoughts. But we cannot rely purely on thoughts; we must translate thoughts into words and eventually into actions in order to manifest our intentions.

This means we have to be very careful with our words, choosing to speak only those which work towards our benefit and cultivate our highest good. Affirmations help purify our thoughts and restructure the dynamic of our brains so that we truly begin to think nothing is impossible. The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, originally meaning “to make steady, strengthen.”

Affirmations do indeed strengthen us by helping us believe in the potential of an action we desire to manifest. When we verbally affirm our dreams and ambitions, we are instantly empowered with a deep sense of reassurance that our wishful words will become reality.

The art of the spoken word is critical in crafting your future.
So speak away; relinquish your fears and purge your anger, predict your own future and live up to your potential with the affirmations that will change your life:

35 Affirmations That Will Change Your Life

How to Support Veterans in their Business Pursuits

'Veterans Make Great Entrepreneurs'

More than 9 percent of all U.S. businesses are owned by military veterans.

The headliner certainly got our attention,
Elizabeth Gore asked an entrepreneur what the best advice he has ever heard was, and he started his answer with, "It came from a man who lost his arm and leg flying home from Vietnam." You know that person that answered was a veteran first and an entrepreneur second. On this Veterans Day, there is much to learn from our brave men and women in the armed forces, and we must think about how to support them in their business pursuits.

We also need to ensure there are strong programs specifically for veterans who are ready to start companies. Gore also mention engagements of a few programs.

 Agribusiness for Veterans
U.S. Department of Agriculture launched a new website for veterans interested in opportunities in agriculture. USDA wants to ensure that veterans looking to return home or start a new career on a farm or in a rural community have the tools and opportunities you need to succeed.

Preparedness and defense are critical to America's food and agriculture sectors and to sustaining and growing rural America. That's why the U.S. Department of Agriculture is looking to military veterans across the country to fill the roles that keep America's food supply safe and secure, preserve and strengthen rural communities, and restore and conserve the environment.

Doorway of Literacy: Creating A World Where Everyone Can Advance

                                                                LightSail

One in nine adult Americans struggle with employment outcomes as well as personal and social well-being – all because of low literacy skills.
LightSail is dedicated to turning students into readers who will become engaged global citizens in the 21st Century. So, in 2012 a group of the brightest minds in education got together to create the world’s best literacy solution. They knew a few key things from their experiences in the classrooms:

• Students grow faster when engaged and challenged by an abundance of just right texts
• Students are motivated by understanding their own progress data
• Educators can do more with better progress monitoring

These bright minds set to work on crafting, testing, and perfecting the reading experience they wish they had in their own schools. Today, LightSail is advancing literacy in schools all across the US, serving hundreds of thousands of students across nearly 500 districts.

What We Do - LightSail

In 2015, LightSail's SummerSail Reading Program provided at-risk middle school students with access to LightSail for seven weeks in an effort to combat "summer slide" - a phenomenon by which economically disadvantaged children rarely read during the summer as compared to their more advantaged peers.
“Good things happen when teachers, education advocates, and technologists join together for a massively transformative purpose.”―LightSail

Providing Employment and Improving Livelihoods ―

The kind of company we want to build.

The making of a unique brand:
This story starts with a journey through Latin America.
As a travel writer at the time, Jake Bullough was living in Bolivia, writing about people's lives whom he encountered. In La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, he met the wonderful Julia, who along with her extended family have been making and selling leather bags from a tiny shop in the back streets of the city for many years. Intrigued by the combination of incredible craftsmanship and quality materials, they began collaborating, turning Jake's designs into a collection of never seen before handbags.

With Bolivia being such an isolated country,
Jake's idea was to provide Julia’s struggling business and subsequent others, with a substantial amount of work with which would bring in much needed finances and eventually improve their standards of living. The idea of encouraging employment has always been a huge motivational factor and we now provide full or part time employment to over forty people.

Their ever expanding network of craftsmen are also motivated by the fact that their hard work, skill and tradition is being appreciated worldwide. To make their bags more unique we have been using vintage Andean cloths, known locally as ‘aguayos’. All antique aguayos are hand woven and defined by the region where they are made. The art of making these wonderful cloths has been passed down through generations, over hundreds of years and reflects the history of the indigenous cultures in Bolivia.

Our hope is that everyone who purchases a Beara Beara
appreciates the skill, determination, respect and love that goes into making each individual bag. Beara Beara products are not only unique but extremely durable made from raw cows hide, they source from the lowland areas in Bolivia.

We respect the desire to buy a hi-fashion brand but are pleased to see that there are still plenty of people who appreciate quality and take pride in creating their own individual style.

Beara Beara is a fashion brand, promoting style and individual taste, however first and foremost the business is based around a quality made product. The materials that are source and the craftsmanship that goes into making them are the foundation on which the company is built.

“Opportunities will come and go, but if you do nothing about them, so will you.” ―

START Something Stupid!:
What if the smartest people in the world understand something that the rest of us don’t? (They do.)
What if they know that in order to achieve success, they will sometimes have to do things that others may initially perceive as stupid? The fact of the matter is that the smartest people in the world don’t run from stupid, they lean into it (in a smart way).

In The Power of Starting Something Stupid, Richie Norton redefines stupid as we know it, demonstrating that life-changing ideas are often tragically mislabeled stupid. What if the key to success, creativity, and fulfillment in your life lies in the potential of those stupid ideas? This deeply inspiring book will teach you:

How to crush fear, make dreams happen, and live without regret.
How to overcome obstacles such as lack of time, lack of education, or lack of money.
The 5 actions of the New Smart to achieve authentic success.

'I don’t do book reviews normally, but yesterday a trusted friend introduced me to Richie and I’m pretty sure it was providential. This book spoke to me at just the right time. You see, I’ve been working on a post about fear. Thought I had the perfect title, too – No Fear: What Are You Afraid Of? The irony is, of course, that I was afraid to post this post.'

Richie Norton spoke at the annual #L2E conference and '
absolutely blew our minds.'

Don't wait. Start stuff. @RichieNorton has “
written a book about courage. The courage to do work that matters and to do it with your heart and your soul. Go make something happen.

We are all dazzled by the notion that there are some people who get ahead, who reach the corner office because they are simply gifted, or well-connected, or both.
But research shows that we far overvalue talent and intellectual ability in our culture.

The fact is, so many people get ahead--even the gifted ones--because they worked incredibly hard, put in the thousands of hours of practice and extra sweat equity, and made their own luck. And Linda and Robin should know--they are two girls from the Bronx who had no special advantages or privileges and rose up through their own hard work and relentless drive to succeed to the top of their highly competitive profession.— Grit to Great.
